SafeSport for Players
USA Hockey requires some Brighton players to complete SafeSport training every season.
Who needs it
Players born 2009 or earlier who play alongside minors must complete SafeSport annually. It's not required if you only play adult hockey. Not sure if it applies to you? Ask the trustee.
What it is
Free online training from USA Hockey. The first time is the full Core course (~90 min); after that it's a shorter annual Refresher. Good for 12 months.
How to do it
- Make sure your USA Hockey membership is registered for the season, and have your confirmation number handy.
- Sign in at the SafeSport Launchpad with your USA Hockey account. Never set a password? Click Forgot Password, enter the email address on your membership, and they'll send a verification code — it expires in 5 minutes. Don't know your username? Forgot Username works the same way.
- Complete the training.
Expect this the first time: after you sign in, the button to start the training may be greyed out for a few minutes while USA Hockey creates your profile with the U.S. Center for SafeSport. Refresh after 5 minutes and it'll activate. It isn't broken.
You don't need to send us a certificate — completion is reported to the league automatically.
You must finish SafeSport before you can play in a game.
