Player Evaluations & Team Placement

Each season, Brighton Hockey holds preseason evaluations to place every player on the right team. There are no cuts — evaluations determine team placement only. Every player who registers has a spot in the program.

Evaluation sessions

Please plan on attending both sessions at Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center:

Both are scrimmage-style sessions where coaches watch players in game situations.

Record your attendance for both sessions in BenchApp. If you can't make either one, please reach out to Trent as soon as possible.

One Brighton Hockey

All three teams are important, valued, and competitive in their respective divisions. Navy competes for the affiliated state title, but it's just as important to us that Orange succeeds in their varsity division and that our JV team is among the best in the league — particularly at the New Year's JV Tournament, which Brighton hosts. Above all, we want to put each player in an environment where they can grow and develop, and team placement is part of this. Teams may share practice ice, which gives more experienced players the chance to mentor newer ones. We attend each other's games and cheer each other on.
